PAPA JAMES PORTER
James Porter, born to Edna Smith-Porter and Alvin Porter on December 31, 1939, in Union, South Carolina, embodied resilience from an early age. His formative years in the cotton fields instilled in him a strong work ethic, a value he carried throughout his life. He and his beloved wife, Alcestis, shared a profound love and had four children: Everlyn, James Earl, Wanda, and a baby boy who tragically did not survive childbirth. Their marriage, enduring until Alcestis's death in 2006, was a testament to their deep commitment through joy and hardship. James's professional life at Firestone Steel and Moreland Chemicals reflected his dedication, where his integrity and work ethic were evident. Now living in Pacolet, South Carolina, James's legacy continues to be a guiding light of dedication and love for our family.
